Am I Alice? Is this Wonderland?

Just when I feel as if the view of our world, our nation cannot possibly get any more skewed, I open up the paper and read an report with comments from Democratic Senator Keith Ellison of Minnesota.  Mr. Ellison claims that Americans should embrace working less, and that in working less hours we will have more time with our families, the ability to eat dinner at our dining room tables and the ability to cook at home and not worry about grabbing take out in our rush home in the evenings.

I had to sit and ponder, have I slipped through a rabbit hole? A worm hole?  Does he believe this nonsense he is spouting? Does the public believe this crap being shoved down our throat?  If so your children and my children will look back and ponder at the madness that we are allowing ourselves to be duped by.

Less hours at work will mean very little to the family who sits down to a barren empty dinner table.  Retiring when working and living paycheck to paycheck is but a fleeting vision for many American households.  Increasing your public welfare programs, the largest which is the Ponzi scheme of Obamacare, and the increasing tax burdens being place on Americans backs leads me to agree with Mr. Ellison on one thing. That yes Americans will have less working hours and more hours to sit and wonder how it all went so wrong, thoughts of what we once had, and what we now need, food for our families, a good paying job that brings self worth and pride, creature comforts, home ownership, you know all the little things that are being stripped from Americans on a daily basis, the lists go on and on. Oh the hours we will have free to dwell on those things. 

The criminals and fools who will continue to bleat out this propaganda should be ashamed. The remainder of the elected officials who sit quietly while pretending to faintly bleat out small protests and continue to feed off the conservative voting base, you will also be held responsible.  Prepare to join all the happy folk who love not working more hours who love sitting back and thinking of what was.  I see your future and it looks UNEMPLOYED.

 

A World Gone Mad

So here in my great state, with the motto “THE GOOD LIFE”, people are upset with our Governor for his stance on not expanding our Medicaid system.   Well everyone has the right to their opinions, but I will say on this I agree with him.  If anything the entire system needs overhauled to give help to those in need, not to those in greed.  
Too many users of Medicaid are not using the system as it was intended and see it as a lifelong gravy train.  And for those who do need it or are thinking of using it, I  urge you to look at the little known laws and regs where after you die, the system can come and take your property and any remaining funds you leave behind to make up for any Medicaid use.  Hmmm…. Not something they are letting most of you know about right????  

Well now I digress..another pet peeve of mine is the Food Stamp or SNAP program that is a federal and state NIGHTMARE, at least to those of us paying attention.   I hear story after story of food stamp misuse and abuse.  Cards being used in Vegas, Disney World, on cigarettes, sold to others for who knows what….well I finally have my own story.

I was at the grocery store the other day and needed to return my glass milk bottles at the customer service desk.  You see they are worth $2.00 a piece and every bit helps for this working mom to put groceries on the table, be it cold hard cash and using coupons.  And standing 3 deep, I started observing the  lady in front of me, who was getting impatient with the line.   I admit it, I love to people watch! Anyway this 45-55 year old woman stood in front of me, in an ankle length real fur coat, with a beautiful leather purse, designer sunglasses, gorgeous shoulder length hair and an attitude that reeked of impatience.  And I wondered what is she fuming about???  Well as she stepped up to the counter I was lucky enough to observe the entire scene that was unfolding.   Let me get into some bad play acting here…   Customer service rep:  good afternoon how can I help you?   Fur coat lady:   I was in the other day, and purchased a steak from your meat counter, where they assured me it was fresh!!!  Well it was not fresh!   Customer service rep:  why I am so sorry!!  Our meat counter usually only serves the freshest and best cuts of meat!  Fur coat lady: well it wasn’t so here, (hands her a nice clean flat crap of the meat wrapper paper with the price tag (who holds on to that when cooking!???).  Customer service clerk: absolutely, I am so sorry maam.    Ok that will be a refund of $15.39.   Can I please see your card so I can put the refund on there?  Fur coat lady:   Hands her an EBT/FOOD STAMP CARD.  Custimer service rep:  ok that’s $15.39 back on your card.. Fur coat lady:  now wait did you just charge me again!?  Customer service rep:  no ma’am look here is your receipt, it was credited.   Fur coat lady:  ok good, takes receipt walks away.    Me??  Me??  I sit there probably with my jaw on the floor with numerous thoughts running through my head.  1.  Don’t judge maybe she needs the food stamps. 2. I freaking don’t buy $15.39 steaks because they aren’t in my budget. 3.   Who gets a bad cut of meat not from the store shelf, but directly from the meat counter at a top notch store? 4.  Who keeps the paper wrapper, clipped and neat just in case when cooking??.  5.  My g-d that snot is not only gaming the store, but gaming me!!  A tax payer,hard working can’t freaking afford steak tax payer!!!    I so bad wanted to say something yet held my tongue….  10 minutes later I am in the fruit and veggie aisle looking over what purchases I can afford to make, look over and wow look and behold, fur coat lady shopping the most expensive organic section.

republican or democrat you are both guilty of aiding and abetting entire generations of teat sucking government welfare dependent voters.  Key word voters, those idiots who wait for the handout keep you in power.  The gig is up.
